Nothing, but Everything
We were strange when they looked at us, twisting under their gazes unfazed because they had judged us from the start, wearing their labels and falling apart but tentatively held together by frayed edged strings of the lulls in between the sting of their words when we felt grounded, roots intertwining with the earth as we watched love unfold, unrequited but still we wrapped our legs around lead poisoned fools gold with every touch, our nails leaving crescent moons embedded in borrowed skin to prove we were there, that we existed in those moments when we were not alone, a plaything instead of just another sad girl trapped in a world where all we understood was that to feel accepted we would be forced to sacrifice our bones.
We were beautiful only with their eyes closed, hidden treasures, so radiant… that with their eyes opened, they were blinded to our true value, and they sorted us into the trash bins, and threw us into the city dump. Clutching to one another, we endued the fury of the incinerator — even as our clothes were singed from our bodies, we stood like the pillars of heaven; the salt of the earth. We wrote our last words, on the wind, with the ashes of our former selves. There were no scraps left for the vultures to pick at. They left us as nothing; with nothing… but the knowledge that we had belonged to no one. We were not to simply things be bought, or sold; kept, or borrowed. We had been beholden only to ourselves… and that meant everything.

What an amazing piece. Your imagery is so touching to the very core. And the collaboration adds depth and perspective. I frankly enjoyed it. :)
